Restoration Shakespeare Summer School (Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, 2019)
Date: 1/07/2019 - 31/07/2019
Time: 12:00AM - 12:00AM
Location: Shakespeare Birthplace Trust
TIMES AND DATES FOR THIS ARE STILL TO BE CONFIRMED
Our research on The Tempest (2017) and Macbeth (2018) will lead to a Restoration Shakespeare summer school in July 2019 at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, a leader in the public understanding of Shakespeare. We will recruit 20 staff (e.g. dramaturges, outreach officers) from UK arts organizations to participate. The summer school will build capability in creative industries by sharing our research on Restoration Shakespeare with artistic staff, who will take the research back to their home organizations and audience/subscriber base. Participants will also be given an ‘enrichment resources’ tool-kit for further use and dissemination. This will include: copies of archival and primary materials on Restoration Shakespeare (promptbooks, scores); bibliography and secondary sources; photographs from our workshops on The Tempest and Macbeth; video documentaries on Macbeth; summary of end-user feedback during workshops and performances; reviews and media coverage for Macbeth; publications and conferences papers resulting from the project; and interviews/blog posts with project participants. Our long-term goal is to influence artistic programming and creative practice in theatre companies and music ensembles.
